rear suspension wows
« on: 14 December 2005, 22:01 »

Team, New to the board - will get to the point.  MK3 golf (8v GTI). When driving at low speed over bumps or ripples on the road surface, a load bang is felt and heard what feels like the down stroke of the rear socks. Man hole covers and craters in the road make it sound like the wheel is going to drop off.  Car drives fine and corners well, no problems on the moterway

(I changed these two weeks ago for new stock GTI and bumps within the shock, but the fault remains)

I cannot see any other items that could be at fault - ??

Any ideas??.

yep, thats it, get em done using powerflex poly bushes, stiffens handling too, you'll also start to get 4 wheel steer, where the back axle starts to float in it's mountings, starts to fell like the back end is gonna overtake the front......

wanna buy a complete back axle with bushes allready done???????????       Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£50

Ok - if the bushes need pressing in with a press in then I am interested, I need to check with a mate, to see if he can fit these things, will email you as soon as I get it working

£50 seems like a bargain - its a pig of a job and cost me £120 plus parts from a mate - took him all afternoon to do.
