Temp Gauge
« on: 14 December 2005, 09:00 »
Works, dont work, works, dont work.

Really, it depends. Last night worked the suddenly died while driving. Got to Tesco and got some WD40 and give it a blast and it was back to life. Then on the way home on the motorway it decided to stop working again?

This morning it was working for the first 8 minutes on my way to work and stopped again!

Everything else works on the car but this, any ideas?

Faulty sensor or dodgy wire. clean the contacts with a wire brush and see if that helps.

The temp gauge sender is in the plastic flange bolted to the front of the block, the black one.  Check the wires going to it and if that don't help try a new one.  Failing that you've probably got a dodgy earth!

Prob a good idea to put Vasaline on the contacts before you reconnect them.
