The car is fixed, he was done by 11:30 my missus said, he took it for a test drive   Now thats service

The only thing I'd say about them is they don't keep you in the loop, when they are doing your car

glad its sorted mate

to be honest i have heard not great things about a few W specialists, I know a few mechanics that have done countless engine conversions so if/when i do come to that then i am lucky i can turn to them

if you have the room and and have the ideas do what i did and do it yourself conversions, shocks ,breaks its all very easy if you have an idea on how to do a jig saw puzzel.its not hard any of it even the timing you can pick up once youve been told or shown its all very easy rub jonny really did help me out of a hole a guy who really knows his stuff my car stillhas a few bugs but thats only cos i havent had the time to sort it!lol

the fact that sumik so simple as the bumper bolts were stripped would probably cause me to hit the roof! there nothing professional about stripping a bolts and then leaving them for you to find out and then have to go out of your way to ring them to get it sorted.fair play they came and sorted it but it doesnt leave you with a very good impression.

since i started my car it has been a big learning curve for me and when i look at my car the thought of pulling it apart and changing things no longer scares me anymore my attitude is get in there and just do it!!

did you have work done on you head aswell as the 2ltr bottom end?minjes had head work and the bottom end and at the rolling road day she pushed 135.6bhp and 147.2lb or touque thats with it under fueling and with the cam timing slightly out!next year she'll be flying gonna do the bottom end and a remap then shel be flying!

Gibby, from reading all these stories about the various "specialist" Dub garages etc it really is worrying. They supposedly know these cars like the back of their hand so how can they screw up? I'm trying to pick out somewhere at the moment to look at my starting and idle issues as me and Rubjonny have almost exhausted all avenues as to what it could be and it frightens me what could end up happening to my car

One word James....complacency!!

I work with guys who are Land Rover specialists, but still miss out the simplist of things, it can also come down to being bored shizzleless!

I've been to loads of so called VW specialist and I'm still not happy to take my car to any of them except C&R Enterprises, thus why I do all my cars myself now - it takes a bit longer but at least I know the job is done correct and if it goes wrong its my own fault.

Exactamundo, or at least your Pops  !!

Yep, I had the head done too, it growls when running at 3k rpm   According to the guy who did the conversion he said "I have done many 2.0L 8v now but NON are as fast as this"

My cam is has never been changed, but according to anyone we has looked at it, it's not a 8v cam as the lobes are too big??? spoke to the previous owner & I have all to doc's to prove the car left the factory with this cam??  prob a press car??

I can REALLY feel the diff in the touque & power, which is a but hard to get used to cos I kept on spinning the wheels even when I tried to let off gently ooopppsss!!!

Cannot get used to the PAS yet, feels to light lol
