What else would you get for that kind of money? A very early high miler 1.4/1.6 Mk4? Drive it, enjoy it, maintain it and you will still get all of your money back 5 years from now. Laying them up causes more problems than its worth and is false economy. If you use a car every day, it becomes reliable - Wise words!

Daddy cool, ehm nice wheels.........

You did the right thing, she looks the nuts. I made a similar purchase a little whie ago, B-reg 8v, leather ,electrics, BBs RA's, Met Silver 63k FSH - £1400. People keep telling me to put it away and stop the mileage, but your right Vdubs are meant to be driven, and before I got mine it had been driven by Miss Daisy herself 3k a year for 19years the poor thing was so under revved it was unbeleivable and hadn't been over 70mph for at least 10 years.

Needless to say she gets the arse kicked out of on a regular basis, drinks 99 Ron petrol and has now topped out at 118mph. We are both very happy together

See for yourself why I ......................... can't help but love my car. And if you lived close enough yours aswell.

I went to the bank & borrowed some money & coughed up £2800 for what is estentially a brand new car!!

For what it's worth, I think you've got a bargain, there's some sh1tters out there that people want 2k+ for with a squillion miles on them. I'd have paid that for it without thinking, and probably more. Dont store it, drive it.
......now officially dubless.

Probably with a nice set of cut springs banging away underneath..........

You got a bargain, I bet your gear box feels lovely? Mine does........

I first saw the car at a vw show at tatton park, the owner had put it on vw dealer stand (run by his mate) along side the new golf gti! I drooled over it for an hour or so but ultimatly i couldnt afford it & walked away, with his phone number of course! Over the next week i was kicking myself as id looked about 10 gti's in last few months ranging from £700 - £1800 & nothing came close! so I went to the bank & borrowed some money & coughed up £2800 for what is estentially a brand new car!! in VW terms anyway only 57k & a full dealership history!

was that VW north  coz i went to that this year and last year, i think i saw it actually!!

Yeah it was at VW north!!

Alan293 loving your car! Leather seats as well very smooth!! & all for £1400 a absolute bargain, could have had 2!

The gearbox is nice & tight, my other mk2 i had before this had done 160k & still felt solid especially compared to some of my mates fords & renualts!!
But the car in general just feels new & un worn even the indicators click loader!!!
