electric windows mk3 drivers side not working

my drivers side electric window will not work, i was told about it by the person i got the car off ,ive tryed replaceing the switch but with no luck,there is a noise coming from inside the door it seems like its trying to work but wont ,just wondering if anyones got any ideas.

Did you get this sorted ? I have exactly the same problem. Do you know the fix ? Regulator ? Motor ?

yes fixed it myself
it was just a broken wire where the wires come through the door and into
the pillar,just pull the rubber back that is covering it ,i think it was a brown wire
but there were 2 others nearly broken also.
