1.8t or 4motion
just looking around at cars today. saw a lovely x reg 4motion. i've got a perfectly good v reg 1.8gti turbo. has anyone had experience of 4motions and there advantage and disadvantages over the 1.8t? could do with a bit of advice before i part with any cash. everyone i've spoken to only has gti experience. it will all probably amount to nothing over the christmas period and i'll probably end up driking away the money anyway!
safe motoring , happy christmas

they have more grip off the line as they have 4wd. personally I'd stick with the 1.8t and do a turbo upgrade to raise the bhp above 200. I've smoked a 4motion in a straight line with 200bhp in the mk2. 4 motions are heavy and known to be sluggish... unless u turbo them ;)

for me the answers in the question , everyone has tried the 1.8t
if outright speed is your thing then a tuned 1.8t is faster but the 4motion is way cooler and will sound awesome (+ with some tuning its nearly an r32 ?)

4-Mo with a Miltek or simmilar will sound awesome, but will be more thirsty, especially when not being caned.

1.8t's return good MPG when not canned too.

I wouldn't expect the v6 to be that thirsty, as i think they all had variable valve timing.
Certainly not sluggish, as it is infact a 24v vr6

thanks for all the info. i might go with the power upgrade and stick with what i got. some kind/thoughtful chap left his powerflow system on the car for me, so the sound department is sorted. (deafened after 200mile run). although the 4motion was a lovely motor,, must stop thinking about it and spend some money on the familys christmas presents!!
any recommendations on who to use for a basic power up grade? i'm sure i've posted something similar before, but i'm a bit of a lepper when it comes to t'internet and that, can't find the thread!
