Interest in my run around?
« on: 07 December 2005, 00:39 »
I know I only bought it 10 days ago and she's a lovely little gti, but I think the 20vt may be getting done a bit quicker than I first thought. I can't afford to keep 2 cars and I don't think the neighbours are happy that we have 4 cars outside as it is.

When I bought it the rear shock had come through into the boot. I fixed this straight away and sorted out numberous other teething problems around the car and replaced a few bits of trim. Recently installed a set of 13cm Alpine Type R components. Can't be arsed to remove these, but the headunit isn't mine so I can't go selling that really. It's also got little bumpers :D

The engine runs sweeter than any other GTi I've driven. she starts first time every time hot or cold and runs extremely well. the MFA reads a good 45+mpg on motorway runs. It also handles really well since I fixed that shock (surprise surprise)

It's a 1989 F reg 8v Gti 3dr in Met grey. I'll get the paint code tomorrow. Showing 160k on the clock now. I have the previous MOT which is valid until Jun 06. It's taxed until the end of the year.

Good points:
It's a GTi!
14" near mint OZ polaris alloys with 4 high tread level tyres.
Interior is good throughout apart from the driver's seat bolster and it doesn't tilt forward without holding the clip on the bottom. likely the cable has come off somewhere.
It's a 3dr
It runs like a dream

Bad points:
Bodywork is showing a bit of age. Underneath the rear bumper it's a but rusty.
It's missing one of the plastic arches on the n/s rear which is exposting rust bubbbles.
There's a bit of rust on the n/s door too.
Dent n/s rear quarter. Doesn't stand out at a glance.

I'd like £500 for it at it stands. I think this is a fair asking price. I sold my D reg 5dr for £550 and it was a dog compared to this one! I'll post pictures tomorrow I promise.

I can sell it for what I want really. Used car dealers only wash them and make more than I would! The price I paid is irrelevent.

I bought it cheap cos it needed work done to it. I think it's worth £500 easy.

This is how I see it. Cars are worth what someone is willing to pay for them.

It may not be worth £500 to some of us, but it might be worth that to someone else !

(If you see what I mean!)

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

Thank you Organisys

What I paid for it doesn't come into it. It was up for £500 before the shock went even with it's little of niggles. I've fixed all that.

£500 is the right price I feel.
