comments: hi, ive been considering one of your exhaust systems for my mk2 golf, but i have heard that Magnex have changed the manufacture process for your exhaust and are no longer straight-through systems but instead re-circulate the gases in the silencers before eventually releasing them. can you confirm if this is the case? Many thanks, Craig

and the reply

Thank you for your enquiry.
This is correct on the Mk2 Golf - however if it was straight through it would be deemed to be loud. However, most of our other systems are straight through.

If you require further information, please contact our sales dept.

I've just had a magnex system fitted to my 8v. It was suposed to be twin 3.5" tail pipes, but when I meeasured them they where twin 2.5"!!!! >:( This isn't evan an option they list unless you have the manifold as well (which I didn't). The upshot is that I have to drive around for the next 4 weeks (thats when the next batch is due to be built) with these weedy looking pipes out the back!!. It is a very quiet system (I can't tell the difference between it and my old standard system) but i hope i will louden up as teh exhast beds it (plus the bigger pipes will deepen the note). But at least magnex have admtted its thier fault straight awayand its not going to cost me anything. Damm annoying al the same.

I've been searching high and low for a off the shelf performance exhaust system which is using twin 2.5" pipes. The standard pipes are 2.25", and I think that the 3" or larger pipes look stupid... I just want a system than is only a bit larger than standard.
Where did you get your system from, maybe I can get lucky and find a twin 2.5 system  ::)

I brought mine from bells silencers in Swindon (they are a powerflow dealer as well). The twin 2.5" option is only listed if you have a complete system with their manifold as well 9about ?450 plus fitting). A far cheaper way would be to either get powerflow to build you a backbox or a complete system depeding on what you want. If you send me your name and phone number (pls how much u would be prepared to pay), I'll pass it on to Bells and see if magnex want to sell you the exhaust (may only be the backbox though) when they fit the one I ordered.

Cheers

Craig

has anybody bothered to read the reply i got from Magnex??

by recirculating the gases, the magnex exhausts are probably more restrictive than a std item!!

I did, but it was too late as I had the exhaust on the car :(. It doesn't seem to have hurt the performance, but from inside the car I couldn't tell any difference to when it was standard (mind you the drilles airbox drowns out most things ;)  )

I have a Magnex back box with 60mm twin pipes that is for sale, I make that 2 and a half inches. Drop me a message and I'll talk money with you. This box was on a full Four branch system. ;D
