RUST UNDER FRONT SCREEN RUBBER

Hey ppl, i have some rust under the front screen rubber,and it comes forward onto the panel where the wipers come out in front of the screen rubber, i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how do i go about fixing it?? some mesh and filler and rust proofing maybe??
plz let me know

Common problem on mk2 this. No rust here on my creent mk2 though (I think!)
To do a proper job it's best to take the screen out.

yeah thought as much, cheers, whats it like to take the front screen out?? is it hard, i remember doing it when i was an apprentice mechanic lol!! cant remember for the life of me now, i know you use some string though!!

yea i do work in a bodyshop,thats how the said they would do it, other than replacing the whole panel,they dont do rust here though,too much trouble than its worth they said!! ohh well thanks for ya help!!

get your self a body shop to do it, big job which can get bigger, my mate had a small rust bubble under the front window rubber, ended up needing the front support being removed and a strong not rusty one welded in , the rust had travelled all down the inside of the front support, the guy in the garage showed him, tim said it looked like a cancer!

Keep on top of it with rust prevention in the mean time. bottom right corner of my windscreen rubber has a bit of rust, which needs to be cut out and rewelded IF you dont want it to come back. If u go the simple cheep £100 job which is cut, fillered etc it will live on. Its a cancer. U have to get rid of it or it shows its ugly head.
Been quoted £200 tops to have it cut out and new welded in, windscreen taken out and put in!

Had this problem on all my Mk2's Jetta's and golfs I need a new panel in My Golf been holding it off for a while but its inevitably gonna need fixing!!
