Hi all,
I wondered if anyone else has experienced this with their Golf Mk3?
Scenario, after starting the car, selecting 1st then 2nd, I can hear a crunching or scraping type noise which seems to emanate from the drivers side near the front. I have read numerous stories of gearboxes crunching during 2nd gear selection, but this happens after 2nd is selected and the clutch let out. It's really strange as it will never happen again on the same journey!!! If I switch off and let the car stand for a while, start-up, drive off and select 2nd after a few seconds I'll hear the noise again.
It sounds like something is sticking then releasing, and once released it's okay for the rest of the journey. Apart from that the gearbox seems very healthy and the clutch does not emit any noises I should be concerned about.
There are a couple of things I need to do such as drive in 1st for a whileÂÂÂ

, or selecting 3rd after 1st to see if it happens.
Any thoughts?
best regards,
RichyH
PS: Just been out in car and selected 3rd after 1st and noise is there. Also, after letting car stand for a while, I restarted car and pulled away in 2nd - the noise happens again!!!! Very strange!!!!!!!!!!
