Urgent starting problem
« on: 02 December 2005, 23:54 »
Driving back home from work tonight and I hit a big puddle a bit quicker than normal....car fine keeps going but then 10 seconds later loss of power and faltering and rolls to a stop. Turn the engine over and doesnt fire up. Assumed I had drowned it so set about drying bits off and spraying WD40.....no luck. Called RAC and they sent some local garage who had a quick look and said there is only spark on 1 plug, and said looks like cranshaft sensor has been damaged. Now this is not a cheap part and I dont want to buy one and then find it isnt this.....need the car urgently for next week and dont really have the time to take it anywhere, so any advice appreciated  :undecided:
