i thought mk2 16v gearboxes were significantly different from mk3 16v/mk3 vr6 ones.. ?

for example.. i know the mk3 one is often sourced when dropping a 1.8t engine into a mk2.. as the existing gearbox isnt compatible..

i thought they were the same fitment but the mk3's are cable change and hydrolic clutch which is more compatible with the 1.8t engine.

maybe.. all i know is engine swappseys dont use the original..

and i figured if they using a mk3 one to be compatible then the mk2 one isnt compat..
which lead me to believe mk3 + mk2 ones = not the same  LOL

i'm pretty sure they are all 020 boxes as i know you can use turbo diesel mk3 boxes on a mk2. it probasbly more a gear ratio and the hydrolic clutch/cable change thing that makes it more common to use a 16v box on a 1.8t

im sure it will fit, but i remember someone telling me you need to swap the pedal box too ?

either way, why would you want a '6 box in a valver, the ratios are sh!te.
