MFA Problem.....................
« on: 30 November 2005, 23:38 »
I think my MFA is having a funny turn - does anyone know where it gets the MPG reading from?

Mine is currently telling me that I am doing about 10mpg which is ridiculous. Worked out a reading from using the mileometer and it's doing about 25mpg at the moment so it's nothing like the 10mpg that the MFA says it's doing.....

The other MFA functions seem to be ok, so was guessing that there is a dodgy sensor somewhere............ :undecided: :undecided:

pretty sure its vacuum fed. there is a hose coming from the back of the throttle body going into the bulk head which plugs into your clocks, you may have a split in it. if its disconnected it normally reads ridiculously high or low mileage. check that first as a split should be obvious...

Ah........that sounds quite likely as the other month I took the dash to bits when my rev counter was going mad (turned out to be earth straps).....Maybe I was too heavy handed putting that pipe on the back of the clocks.

Would this possible pipe split count as an air leak and affect the engine running as it's been starting a bit dodgy lately and running slightly rough - just a thought.......

Yep, would create an air leak in the inlet manifold... And a nice sucking noise to go with it, which might help identify where it's broke......
