Just saying hello!
« on: 30 November 2005, 19:09 »
Hi everyone.  I'm new on here and thought I'd introduce myself.

My Dad's had a Mk1 GTi for as long as I can remember and I've now decided that as he's not doing anything with it, and I need a new project, that I'm going to take it on.  This will be my first ever GTi, Golf, or even VW for that matter having mostly owned Fords (sorry!) and have just sold an MR2 turbo.

The Golf's a red 1.6, bog standard Gti.  My Dad bought it as a hobby but has never had time to do anything with it so it's sat in his garage for around 8 or 9 years now.  We're hoping to get it running again in the new year but will obviously check everything over first as it's been soooooo long.

I'm sure I'm gonna have loads of questions as I come across problems, so will be needing help!

Cheers guys.

Scott.

Cheers guys.

Been having a poke round the site and there are some seriously nice cars.

I'm really looking into engine swap options or turbocharging/supercharging a suitable engine and I'm hoping to find someone on here whos had some experience of that and could point me in the right direction.

Top site though.

Neaty: Thanks mate.  Will do.

I will get some pics up when I can, but it will be a while as it's having some spraying and general restoration at the mo.  Should be good when it's done though.  Not going over the top as it's going to be used on trackdays so no need to go concourse, just trying to get it back to its' former glory!
