polo engine
« on: 28 November 2005, 12:24 »
hi
ive found that my mk2 1.3 engine is knackered so im on the look out for a replacement!
ive been told that a 1.3 or 1.4 engine from a mk3 polo i think or mk4 polo will fit in mine and all i have to do is change the mounts? is that true?

thanks in advance
Tim.

Alright mate,

Was down my local scrappy the other day and was looking at all the Vdubs for bits to pilfer when I noticed that an L reg polo (not sure which MK) had exactly the same engine as my other car - 1.3, 1988 Jetta. Thinking back I think the mounts may be slightly different but i'm sure one of the lads on here could give you more advice on how to swap them over. Was deffinately the same engine as i was wondering about changing mine over if it went kaput!
<br />Almost finished.....

its getting it all wired up that will be a pain. My mate in his mark 1 gti put a digifant 8valve from a mark 2 in, but he had to get the wiring done and the only place wo could do it were dubsport who over charged him and did a crap job (electrical tape everywhere)

If you just want a replacement enigne then why not just get hold of a 1.6 driver engine, just goe straight in, no major wiring to worry about.
