De Handle
« on: 28 November 2005, 12:18 »
Ok, So I'm getting annoyed at how minging the handles (inside and out) are on my mk2 gti, and I want to fit a decent alarm with keyless entry.
I was also thinking it might be cool to totally remove the handles (put metal plates over the apertures) and either have switches under the mirrors like on a tvr or use some other system to open the doors seperately, I don't want to have the driver and passenger doors to open at the same time...
If anyone has done this, I'd really appreciate some advice on the solenoids you used and how to make the doors open.
Also I will retrim the door cards so there is a push button on the door to open the door and a switch on the dash to lock the car rather than door pins.
I also need to fit electric windows as well.

Its a good point, but if someone hits you hard enough a mechanical handle is just as useless. Although thinking about it, I think it may be a better idea to get some Audi delocked handles on there, which would be a bit nicer to look at but still safe.
In the meantime, are those Chinese spec handles any good for a couple of months?

Ah, thats where i would be prepped, I would have wires hidden under the front bumper to connect a 12v source up and have enough juice to pop the door, open the bonnet and jump it properly...
