Sorry mate I dont mean to take the piss but you really should have checked it out before buying it.  If it was from a car dealer and if it has 16valve on the receipt you may be able to get your money / some of it back.  If you bought it private you may be in trouble mate, how much did you pay?

I feel your pain, man.

Give the seller hell.  There must be "descriptions" violations if the car was advertised and receipted as a 16v, but is really an 8v.

The second-hand car market is a case of "let the buyer beware", but you do have some protection.  I hope it's enough.

I paid ?2500 for a mint '94 M reg 3dr with 91k and FVWSH. Don't actually feel like I got that bad a deal really. If it had been a 16v it would've been the bargain of the year in my mind. Hell, I'm happy with the car and I guess that's the important thing. Cheers guys.
