There's roughly 7 litres or 1.5 gallons left in the tank when you hit the red zone.

^ i thought the red zone was meant to be good for 50 miles in every car? some rule..

i generally do bout 6miles a day to work, generally in traffic, i have done long distances and have got around 320 from a tank before, i am bit confused i can only ever get no more than 45 litres in it even when i go into the red, and i thought it was a 55litre tank, i generally get bout 230 out of it. normally

hmm..  parkers does say that for all mk3s (8v/16v/vr6) the tank holds 55 litres..

Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

You would probably get 50 miles on the reserve if you drove like a granny at 30/40 mph but seeing as lead foot is a common medical condition/ complaint it's rather unlikley..
