Dont care what anyone says, Ford NEED to build a Focus Cosworth. Now that would be a car worth talking about. The ST may be cheaper, but it will depreciate like a stone and I cannot believe can compete with the GTI on any level. That being said, you have to hand it to Ford bringing out a car with well over 200bhp for that price.

dunno anything about ST really.. fords are cr@p

but oppersite to Volkswagen in dartford is a massive bilboard with an advert for the new astra VXR and the slogen on it is "ASTRA VXR BEATS GOLF GTi"

it does make me laugh

It winds me up everytime i see that bilboard!
But at the end of the day what would you rather have a VW or a vauxhall, who have always been a cheap imitation right back to the days of the mark 1 astra gte!

I like the look of the vxr's but then i feel guilty for doing so. as its a direct rival of the golf.
The focus ST looks alright i think, doesnt have the same effect like when i see a mark 5 gti tho!
I think it will be a car that they know they can get more out of, but they dnt want to because they will want the RS to be that bit more special (which i heard they are bringing out a 4wd 300 bhp cossworth focus), but dnt quote me on that!

VW seem to have a nack over the years of bringing out the new GTI only for the rivals to wait and bring out there equivalent that is faster! WHY??!!

I remember seeing a poster advert from VW years ago with a mk2 golf and a mk2 astra (I think) sat at the traffic lights, the golf driver was sat in his car all relaxed and the astra driver was sat in his car, arms bent, hunched up with gritted teeth ready for the traffic lights grand prix, so I'll get to my point and say now what they said then, "We never claimed to make the fastest GTI, just the best" something like that but you catch my drift and I think it's still applicable today.
......now officially dubless.

i tested all models in our range(honda, cooper sport, vauxhal)
by a mile the golf was the best all round package
build quality and ride were second to none

now i have got my car, i know i made the right move.

when i see other cars in the range drive past or at the lights, i don't say, i wish i had got one of them!!!!!!!

enough said :cool:l

valid points!

'tis true they are they best alround package! The fact that golfs always hold their value is a sign of how good they are!

isnt the vxr the car that vauxhall forgot to put 4wd on? got some stupid amoutn of hp but all tried to be put down on the front wheels. seem to remember clarkson making some funny comments on top gear last season about it being suicide etc and that the golf was better. enough said i think

thats the best mk3 ive seen..ever! its just clean and subtle..

wel it just shows that they are desperate to beat VW and put 240 bhp through the front wheels its not all abut power as we wel know!, it was torque steer city when clarkson tested it
