Sharan VR6...
« on: 12 November 2005, 11:04 »
Ok, I know this has probably been covered somewhere else on here before but I couldn't find it on a search  :nerd:

Am I right in thinking that a Sharan VR6 only has 140bhp as opposed to the Golfs 172bhp (just rough figures  :undecided:)

A woman at work was thinking of getting a Sharan cos of the VR6 lump but I told her I'd ask what the power of them is cos she may be disappointed if it's less than a Golf

I have no idea if it's got less power but that's what I have heard...can't remember where tho  :undecided:
08.03.10 - 3, maybe 4 weeks, and I want my golf back on the road!

The only Sharan I'd even consider is the TDI as the petrol 2.0 and VR just seem to drink the petrol like there's no tomorrow ( don't know about the 1.8T maybe thats not so bad :undecided: )
As for the TDI's being sluggish (boring ) I hired one last year in Spain for a week , did a ridiculous amount of driving in the mountains , motorways etc it went like stink and I didn't have to put any extra fuel  other than the full tank it came with .
( 6 speed box as well although I didn't notice for a couple of days until my daughter asked " whats that 6 for ?"   :embarassed: )

The Galaxy and Sharan were a co-operative development as far as I know.
Apparently they also did a 4wd version.

if you look on the parker website that ben so kindly put the link for on here then it says the Sharan VR6 syncro does 20mpg

that's an average if im not mistaken so it would probably return about half that when pootling round town and taking the kids on the school run..like so many people do

VW used to make a 4wd/syncro Transporter/Camper van in the 80s.

4wd would be useful for getting off a muddy camp site, but can't see why you'd need it in the Tesco car park.
