its the torque.. not the power. the pd130 has a hell of kick low down but runs out of puff after 4k, the mk5 gti has a very smooth (too smooth ?) torque curve. without doubt the mk5 is the faster car.
i drove to my test drive in my 'tweaked' mk4 turbo, which puts down more torque and power than the mk5, probably explains why it felt a little flat no matter how hard i drove it, although it had plenty of grip and cornered well. but then i got home and went out for a blast in my rallye, probably similar power to the mk5 but out-handles it by far.
it just wasnt the car i was looking for, but as people keep saying.. lets see what the new R32 is like, im already on the waiting list for a test drive
