REV it up... or not

Hi

MK1 GTi 1600 non MFA Rev counter over reading? :embarassed:  Ever heard of that fault?  I hadn't, but doing my emmisions the other day and the machine disagreed with my rev counter, so I checked it against my multimeter and the rev counter is wrong, (probably explains why the 'limter dosn't kick in till a full tank )

Any sugestions what could be wrong with it?  Am going to Slough swap meet, so may try to get another unit.

Any ideas would be muchly appricated ta

Not heard of that, but I think it would be worth checking the wiring to the coil and you're earths.
Are your temperature gauge and fuel gauge reading ok?

All other gauges working fine.  I think I it may something to do with me pulling the needle of the clock :embarassed:.  Not sure If I did on this clock or not, but I have pulled one of these units apart before.  DOH!
Anyone got one for sale?  (Not MFA)
