its a mk2 engine mate (later hydraulic tappet) with a different cam cover and carb. its a 'big block layout' same as 1.6 and 1.8 carb engines. if u go gsf u just ask for mk2 engine parts/clutch etc and mk1 gti exhaust and mk1 suspension, if u get stuck giz a shout. try and get yourself a haynes from ebay, just for citi upto 97'. p.s that headgasket looks a bit suspect

Yeah there is some oils around the head gasket, i have not had a proper look yet to see if it coming from there or somewhere else!
