Yeah i would have prefered a 3 door, but we have a baby, so it had to have 5 doors!

got the central locking kit going in soon, should make things alot easier :)

I have got a MK1 Cabrio, 83, GTi. To be honest, the engine layout, clutch cable routing, etc looks similar to my engine bay. I recognise the MK3 water bottle. Looks like a cocktail of MK1, MK2 & MK3 bits (may be).

Anyway, GSF still stock MK1 bits.

Looks nice........

Thanks mate, did you notice the big cable going from the screen wash pump? it goes through the bulk head all the way through the car and connects up below the drivers rear light cluster! and it's an old round heavy duty 13Amp cable, probablly off a lawn mower LoL

I have no idea why it is going all the way to the rear though! Like it's getting power from the lights?

Has anyone got any close up shot of a similar engine bay?

It's called a Citi Golf btw, they are still producing them today in South Africa.

Any idea why the washer power is going to the rear cluster?

Cant tell from the picture but the washer bottle might be feeding the rear windscreen washer jets....... dunno.

Are u sure its a Citi model - I thought they were fuel injected. The engine in the pic doesnt appear to be fuel injected.

alpesh, it's citi golf (chico  model), but it's a 1996 (n reg), before they did alot of updating on them, so i have the original mk1 dash etc, which is what i wanted :)

it's a 1.3L carb btw, but is very nippy! as it weighs about 4 stone :)
