If that's the grill packaging (not-very-strong box and carrier bags), I'm not surprised it arrived like that. I am an ebay seller and would have expected it to get damaged if I had sent it out like that. Did he use a courier or royal mail?
You might be able to get some compensation from royal mail for damaging the item, not sure about couriers as I don't use them myself. Definitely a case of poor packaging though, I would contact the seller and see what he has to say about it....As for the colour difference, could be the camera/light...........
