Finally found it! its behind the blanking plate above the cigarette lighter.

Problem i have now though the fault code reader i bought from halfords a few mth ago aint gona work as its a diffrent connector! twit
Gona have to get a refund from halfords or gunson now.

Checked out that Vag Com and it looks a good bit of kit. Those connectors aint cheap though!. Wanabee dont suppose you would rent your connector out would ya?

Which connectors did you look at? The ones on the VAG COM site are expensive, but there are cheaper ones on e-bay for ?30-?40 and the VAG COM software is free. That's where I got mine and it works fine.

If you want to borrow mine you can, but I'm in Gloucester. Where are you?

i did see somethign about it maybe being possible to use a few pins on the OBD to do the reading, but i never looked further into it.. might be worth looking at, or contacting gunson (they're in bridgwater about 10 miles from here actually).

The reason the cables are quite expensive is because its not just a straight connecter cable arrangement.

The circuit must include opto-isolators to ensure that you dont blow the laptop up!!!!

DONT CONNECT STRAIGHT INTO THE SOCKET AS A WORK AROUND

adyh - u seem to know quite alot about these cables/connectors!

are you any good with electronics?, if so hows about you making some of these cables with the connectors (you could probably get the parts needed from MAPLIN) and sell them on this site for say ?20!

Will the halfords reader work in my mates L-reg VR6?
Does it read the same information as the VAG-COM software?
Cheers chaps
