Leak into Footwell.
« on: 08 November 2005, 20:57 »
Sort of Mk4 related....

The Mrs has an Audi A3 1.8T (same as a Mk4 Golf really) and there is a leak into the passenger footwell.

I can't tell exactly where it is coming from, but looks to be at the top of the front of the passenger footwell, under the dash, below where the passenger air bag is. Anyone had anything like this on a Mk4 Golf ?
Anyone any ideas what could cause it? I can't have a good look until the weekend, when i can have a look in the day light.
Cheers.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

in the golf any leak in that area would most likely be the pollen filter which is under the bonnet, sometimes if it hasnt been put back right then the water will leak down in to the footwell

Thats exactly the problem im having. Although the my pollen filter looks to be installed correctly I did change it in the summer. Can anyone explain in more detail how/where around the filter the water can come in?

i think it has something to do with the plastic cover bit on top, mine was quite a bugger to get back in, and i suppose if you dont put it back flush then water can get in
