Bonnet respray in Brighton? Recommend? Mk2
« on: 08 November 2005, 12:20 »
I need my bonnet resprayed (peeling laquer) in colour LA5U (royal metallic Blue). But am not have been quoted £200. Would I get a good match if I found the panel  in a scrap yard? Or does anyone know where I could get it done less expensively?

Thanks, Paul

I don't know of any good bodyshops in Brighton , the only bodyshop in this area that I would recomend is R&S motors, Cradle Hill industrial estate in Seaford .
I always took my Gti's to them and will do so in the future after my recent experience with a certain " Insurance  Approved " Brighton bodyshop .(NO NAMES NO PACK DRILL :lipsrsealed:)
There maybe good ones in Brighton but I don't know of any ( maybe someone else that's local knows different )

( P.S. did you get you c.v. joint prob sorted ? if not, pm me as I might be able to help )

Poor colour match but I only noticed that several months later and only in certain sunlight ,also the "Insurance approved " bodyshop didn't refit all the trims under the bumper etc

(I'll let you draw your own conclusions about which boyshop I'm referring to )

What happened in your case ?

Insurance insisted I use *.* and *.* collected my cherished MK1 Cabrio Gti from the repairers i'd taken it and decided to let a half wit untrained fool loose on my car armed with crappy O/S/f wing and less than quality ideas of how it should fit!!! After months of arguing it was rubbish, the insurance sent an assessor to view the car after it had been "repaired" he was horrified, so they sent another independent one and he was just as shocked as the car was over an 1" out on the front which could be seen from the looking where the bumper met the wig and bonnet gap etc etc .. oh it kept popping front inner cv joints as it so was bent  So the insurance wrote it off and gave me £1100 after i'd paid nearly 3k!!
The same repairers jacked my neighbours BRAND NEW Scenic on its fuel tank and sent her home in it!!!!
G/f's cousins car MK3 was hit in the rear and after they worked there magic on it it she sold it as the t'gate never shut properly even after she retuned it to Vw for an inspection, so she sold it and bought another MK3 which hadnt been in there hands and never will!!!!
