Wheel Alignment settings? - 2003 GTI 1.8T(180)
« on: 31 October 2005, 21:58 »
Hi,

Regarding my Mk4 GTI 180, I got new front tyres balanced and put on, and the wheel alignment done by lazer equipment rig.  When it came out the steering wheel was slightly to the right when driving straight ahead.  After going back and complaining, they swapped the wheels over on the front, why I dont know.  Still the same problem so they re-done the wheel alignment and after driving it today found that the steering is slightly pulling to the left.

As the car as sports suspension as standard, would the toe-in / toe-out be different compared to another model without?

Does anyone have the actual alignment settings for front and rear wheels?

Many Thanks if you do!

Dave

When they swapped the front wheels over, did they swap the tyres too ? I would assume they are directional tyres, check that out first because if they're on back to front you'll have handling issues.

Every mk4 i've driven pulls ever so slightly to the left, even when laser aligned.

Thanks for the reply.

They swapped wheels and tyres over on the front axle.  They are Michelin Pilot Primacy, I'll have a look if they have a directional arrow on them.

Took it back again yesterday, now the steering wheel sits very slightly to the right when going straight ahead, doesnt pull to the left anymore.

I was thinking of taking it to AMD TECHNiK to see if they can actually get the wheel straight on their 4 wheel alignment.
