smoothing off the door handles ??????

i have a 3dr  golf and i want to have no door handles on the car

will if pass the MOT ?
how would i open the doors ?
 if anyone got any pics would be great to see some and to get some ideas cheers martin

my uncle done this on one of his cars and popped them open with a remote, im pretty sure you will need an emergency button on the car somewhere aswell...sure you need for the MOT

How is someone going to open your car door to get you out if it ends up on its roof? (touch wood) 

I got told off by having porsche ones on mine as they have a special way of opening

come to think of it...is i tvrs that have buttons on the wing mirrors to pop open the doors? i know someone made a car with it...they must be able to pass an MOT

yea just looked on the M O T site it was very helpful , it says aslong as the doors can open somehow from both sides then there is no reason it would fail

so any ideas how i can do this ? cheers martin

A button somewhere is the only way of doing it, some people have them under the wing mirror, some have them under the car  I would say don't bother, highly dangerous if a nasty accident occurs.

you can open the door from the inside with the standard handle??

You have to be able to open the door from the outside somehow. this is pretty obvious really else how would you get in! You must point out this method to the MOT inspector else they'll turn round and say they couldn't get in and it'll fail instantly.

The common place for the switch is on under the mirror as seen on most TVRs (/saxos LOL)

It's pretty easy to do. you'll need to hook up a door motor which would otherwise be used to operate  your locking mech. then mount it so it basically pulls the handle which you'd use to open the door from inside the car.

It's also a good idea to mount some sort of microswitch which will disable the buttons under the mirrors so when the car is locked you can't just open the doors with the button. This is fairly eash to do too.
