Another 3 months delay..
« on: 28 October 2005, 21:27 »
Well I placed my order way back in July, for a non DSG GTI, with minimal extras (company car..tax issues), and was told to expect a November delivery. A month ago, I was told this had slipped to "Sometime" in January 2006.
Yesterday I was informed that had now slipped to "Sometime" in March 2006, as VW has a problem with the "DSg Engine", which I find strange as I haven't ordered DSG, standard box, just added midrange radio option and  the multifinction bit to operate it, nothing flash (boy will I miss my xenons).
Anyay I am gutted, so question, what is wrong with the Golf Mk5 GTI that appears to generate another 3 month delay?
Does it have any build problems?
If it's a DSG supply issue (which i know there are issues, then fine, I haven't gone for that)
Any pointers?

Thanks

Cheers

yer i got one and think it must be the build quality, the biggest problem is its just too darn good

BUt i was aware of the DSG issue but like you say how its affected yours , weird.  Surely if you have minimal spec your VW peeps could search the stock of UK dealers and get one sent?

i ordered mine in may, was told it would be ok for 17th sept, and true to there word it was there on time.
i think if you were buying one it would be a different matter. my last car was company(celica) and they seemed to be in no rush.

one thing i will say is that it will be well worth the wait!!!!!!!!

Contacted the dealer today and the delay does appear to be around the DSG gearbox option, which I didn't order (pity really but still), so now expecting a build "Sometime" in January 2006, which is still 6 weeks after the orignal date.
Boy deez carz is poplar

I realise it doesn't help ease your pain any, but you might be interested to know that I've just taken delivery of a manual 3dr GTI (with cruise, 18" wheels, centre arm rest & winter pack) from a UK based Import Broker and it took less than 9 weeks to come through.

Talked to my dealer today re ordering for March 06 and he told me to come back in January when they would know what their allocation was.  They have had one per month during 05.

Only "good" side is strong residuals!

My dealer will sell my car in 6 months for the same price as I paid for it!

i have been told 12 weeks max from my local dealer - and there are some 'in the system' if I am not fussy on spec etc.

Probs going down the car broker route for a UK car which will be cheaper - they are quoting 12-16 weeks.
