So I'm having a (small) epic fail with this! My 8.5 GTI 265 is now nearly 10 months old/7k miles old and up to now, using the (new to me) digital screen oil level indicator (all my previous GTI's/GTD's just had a dipstick..) the level has hardly dropped at all since new.
However the digital readout has now gone down 3 or 4 bars (still showing >1/2 and a green tick, normal reading).
So first off I bought 1 litre of the wrong top up oil (I bought 0W-30) - I now have the correct 0W-20 - if I had topped up with 0W-30 would the car have even noticed??
Anyway - I popped the bonnet tis morning and went to look at adding a small top up, then I couldn't actually get the cap off...it twisted half turn but didn't want to lift off??
Anyone out there had more success topping up the oil in their 8.5 GTI than me??
Hi there
Engine was running hot b4 oil change, the cap was easy to switch about 45 degrees and then pulled. 7k miles though, haven't you had the oil changed at 5k? As for the digital level, goes up and down a couple bars but always in the green. Hope this helps
