Yes, I had front and rear mudflaps fitted, by my dealership, to my Mk8 GTI - see picture.

But, I am due to take delivery of a new GTI later this week and the dealership says that the front ones no longer fit. I find that strange because they are listed as an option within the VW Configurator. Has anyone else on here had front mudflaps fitted to a Mk8.5 GTI ?

There is no reason they wouldn't fit, as there is no difference to the size/shape of the wings or side-skirts, between the 8 and 8.5.

That said, I'm not a fan, I personally wouldn't fit them at all.

I'd look at getting some PPF for the vulnerable parts instead.

@mossy, was that rear bumper ever re-painted? That damage looks pretty bad, I don't think I've ever seen stone chip damage as bad as that in that area.

I was just thinking exactly the same Joe re. the bumper - or that section of the bumper - might have been repainted and either poorly prepped prior to painting or not painted in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. @mossy69 is the paint on that section of the rear bumper on the driver’s side OK or has it also flaked off?

I agree with you Joe on the mud flaps. If it was my car I’d get the damaged area repainted by a good, reputable body shop and once repainted, fit some clear PPF and also in the corresponding area on the driver’s side too.

Would definitely say that has been repainted at some point hence the paint coming off like that.

Had several GTI's over the years and have coverd 80k plus in the last 2 in a weathers motoways country lanes a roads and never had an issue.

Imo mudflaps never look great on a gti but as said if they fit a mk8 they should fit a mk8.5 also.

I picked up my new Dolphin Grey GTI today, with mudflaps fitted to both front and rear, by the dealership.

The dealers phoned me earlier in the week to say they wouldn't go on the front because they only fitted up to November 2025..I replied that I found that surprising because the Mk8.5 was launched in 2024 and, as far as I knew, there had been no significant changes to the bodywork since then. Fair point, they said and agreed to give it a go.

I was right - they fitted perfectly. 😆

I know that mudflaps are very much a personal preference and.you either love them or loathe them. Me, I love them! 😁
