Do service at 12 months or not?
« on: 06 April 2026, 20:32 »
Bought a March 2023 Mk8 GTI in August 2025. The original 3-year warranty expired in March 2026, but there is still Approved Used warranty from the dealer up until August 2026.

The car will be due its annual service in June 2026. However, when the dealer warranty expires in August I intend to buy the All-in service plan at that point (which includes a further two years warranty).

So is it worth paying for the single service in June at like £330? Or just leave it until August when I have the service plan? I am only doing about 3000 miles per year anyway.

I'd wait personally as you'd literally be throwing money away if you do it early and with the miles you've covered it definitely isn't a necessity. In regard to resale I can't imagine anyone being bothered if they check the service history thoroughly and can see the mileage between each service which you can argue is far more important than the time between services.

My only fear is that by not doing the service on schedule, if the car later has to go in for warranty work they will bring this up as a way to get out of it
