They are known for seizing up. The shaft twists as you close the flap and the small lugs lock it. If it seizes while shut it is a PITA to get open.
Options are change the solenoid that is easy enough apart from the plug is buried inside the boot and trim has to come off to get to it. OR cut off the small lugs on the pin so it will shut as normal but will not lock or get jammed shut. You can either leave it like that or change it when you get time then. I trimmed my shaft a few months ago..........er

as it was notchy. I have a new solenoid I will put on when it gets warmer.
