Wireless Android Auto adaptors?
« on: 15 February 2026, 09:21 »
Anyone using one and whats the verdict?

Lots on line reviews but jut wondering what you are using or if there are any you have tried but are not great on VW.

Any help or advice appreciated.

I used one when i had an Android phone and it used to run my phone battery down too much. I now use an iphone and just plug it in to the USB port on the dash on a cable.

I am currently using an Ottocast mini, but I have an AA wireless 2+ on order. The Ottocast was absolutely fine and I suspect some of the issues I see are actually to do with the car (though in my case, this is actually in an Audi A4).

I originally wanted the AA wireless 2+ as that seems to be the go-to for this purpose, it just wasn't generally available when I was looking. I can try to report back in a week or so once I've got it.

Further to this, mine was an AA wireless 2023 unit.  £70.

£10 special from Ali Express, works great but will run battery down quite quickly, 6-8 hours on mine using waze. Now powered via the cigarette lighter. I had trouble connecting mine via USB so was only option.  Samsung A53 5g.

Wireless AA kicks the hell out of your phone battery.

Its great for jumping in the car for a short journey and having it play music for you... its not the solution for running nav for hours on end. You will need to plug the phone in to charge because nav is a very processor intensive operation for your phone.

This is true whether its VW's wireless AA or some third party one.
