tire change when car fitted with DCC
« on: 05 February 2026, 17:46 »
do new tires need to be fitted by dealer/authorized workshop? would think that DCC needs to be calibrated so it's not simply changing tires, would assume this needs specialized equipment.
Current: GTI 8.5, Moonstone Gray, 5dr, Black Estorils 19''. pan, DCC
Wife's: mk8 TSI 1.5 RL, 5dr atlantic blue, DSG, Norfolk 17", pan s/r, leds

DCC is just suspension. Various ways of doing it for various cars (magnetic particles in the damper fluid, stepper motor controlled valves, etc) but they don’t need calibration (if you change the damper on one side you should also do the other, but that’s the same with any suspension). You can swap wheels, tyres, anything you like, and they will still dampen the ride the same way, you might just notice a difference in feel from stiffer/smaller sidewalls if you change tyre compound/size.
Current - MK8 CS - Dolphin Grey, DCC, Black Estoril, Rear Camera, Sunroof, Winter Pack, Harmon Kardon

Previous and sorely missed - MK7.5 GTI Perf, Indium Grey, Brescias, Art Velours, Rear Camera
