Way to check factory spec?
« on: 03 February 2026, 17:51 »
I'm looking for an 8 CS at the moment (if anyone is selling let me know) :)

Some of the advertised spec is clearly wrong, is there a site I can pop in the reg and find out what the factory options were?

AFAIK the only way is to look at the sticker under the floor in the boot.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

Most of the added spec would be obvious if the pictures in the ad are numerous and of decent quality. Wheels/leather/pano roof will be obvious in any photo.

The reverse camera and heated seats were not standard in the MK8. If there's a photo shown of the infotainment screen, the presence of these 2 should be clear. If there's heated seats you'll see the little heated seat symbol on the bottom right/left of the screen.

DCC - if there is a photo of the "MODE" screen you'll see a Sport->Special option and "Individual".

HK audio - you may see the silver HK trims on the A pillar tweeters.

Heads up display - even from an exterior photo, there will be a "hole" in the dash above the instrument cluster.

Thanks both, yeah most are obvious like HK, roof, wheels etc.

I didn't realise that about the camera or heated seats, good shout. Camera was std on 7.5

I'd prefer DCC but it's not vital and will keep an eye out for the individual mode, do they all have Nurburgring mode under sport?

Was there a performance pack option with the 8? I know the 8.5 was speed limit and Akra

If you’re buying from a dealer, then the parts department should be able to print off a copy of the ‘Car Data’ sheet from their car parts database system.

The Car Data sheet should list the PR codes of all the options fitted to the car when it was built. Be prepared to be met by puzzled / confused looking parts department personnel as they probably don’t get asked for this very often - if ever .  I’ve found from personal experience that the build data sheet - the sticker referred to in previous posts above - doesn’t include all the items of optional equipment on cars I’ve owned whereas the Car Data sheet should.
2020 Polo GTI Plus; Pure White, DSG (because they all are)
Gone but not forgotten;
2016 Polo GTI; Blue Silk
2011 mk6 Golf GTD; Carbon Grey
2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

"Nurburgring mode" is only there as an option under Sport if the car has DCC. There will be a little arrow > there indicating it ("Sport >").

Yes there was a PP for a while, a bit later (I think post Edition 45) which gave you the Arka etc. Probably a rare enough option.
