Got a call today my edition 50 has landed in Ireland, my dilemma now is do I wait to register it July 1st (New Registration Period here in Ireland) or take it ASAP, bare in
Mind detailed can't take car until June 8th and will have for 4/5 days. Great news all the same do.

I'd take it now. 261/2 makes no difference.

For me the new reg would have zero impact on me, I used to care about it but realised I don’t think it has much significance. Those who know, know, any ED50 is hot off the press 😀🚗 I’d want it as soon as, enjoying the summer months in it….

I agree; I also used to like the idea of having one of the first of the new registrations and in the past I’ve  taken delivery of new cars on the first day of the new plate. Not any longer though; I’d rather take delivery 2-3 months (or longer) into the registration plate period so it’s less obvious to those who don’t know me that I’ve just got a new car. A private plate would also make it less obvious, but I’ve no desire to ever have a private plate.

Yes I agree no one really does care about the plate and it definitely doesn't add anything value wise. My detailer is way until June 8th as on annual leave from end of next week, vehicle probably won't hit dealer until week after next depending, so I'm caught really. I think id rather have car PPF'd prior to hitting the rd. So basically all going well vehicle ready for 12/13th June.

Private plates don’t exist in Ireland.

Our registration system “ages” a car very identifiably. Even to a non car person, the age of a car is immediately obvious, much more so than the UK plates I think. A few years ago they decided to split the year, as sales were very heavily biased towards January and tended to fall off a cliff in the 2nd half of the year. So now we have 261-x-xxxx for January to June and 262-x-xxxx for July to Dec. But ultimately it’s only the first 2 numbers that matter.

I heard you were in contact with Ama in Fb detailing. Did you go with him or someone more local?

I spoke with him but logistically it wasn't going to work so I went with RAD which is local to dealer so I can have vehicle done prior to delivery and collect then from dealer. If I was more local to him I definitely would have used him, really nice guy and the PPF he uses looks great. Its expel I've gone for with Gtechniq coatings, the more I thought of it I felt the PPF was a must especially with other forum users comments.

It’s expensive but you won’t regret it.

I know of RAD too, good guy also, I’ve heard great things about him.
