Your's is a mk8 right?

The 5f update was a bit of a red herring. The steering wheel replacement is the critical bit and the bloody dealers know this only too well by now.

It's weird they'd not know how to deal with this. Sure back in 2021 vw didn't have solutions but they definitely fixed it for most people over the next couple of years. Yes that's pathetic but...

The thought all of the fixes were well documented in the fault guide now.

FYI, it’s PV4. I had this update done to my 8.5 a few months ago, not sure that it really did anything as there wasn’t really anything wrong with the car, in my case i think it was actually the dealership scamming the warranty money out of VW, when I picked the car up they had actually had to lie on the paperwork about the reason it was needed, as I understand it the PV4 update is primarily for ID models, although some other things can make it needed on other drivetrains, non start issues on the new Tiguan mainly, this is what they told VW that the issue was with my GTI, which was BS! nothing changed on my car, it still randomly applies the handbrake below 3mph, which was the one thing that isn’t right with my car, and the PV4 update made no difference. ☹️
