I switched from Michelin PS5 to Pirelli PZ5 and they are better in every way.

Surprised by this seeing that I wouldn't buy anything but Michelin for years.

If you are quick

Yes I did see that offer, unfortunately Black Circle is not one of the participating dealers.

I guess that's because they are already discounted? I'm sure I saw somewhere that Black Circle is owned by Michelin, may be mistaken?

Oooh, curveball.
What swayed you that way and where do the PZ5’s score best in your opinion?

This article did the swaying https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre-Tests/Best-Performance-Summer-Tyres-For-2025.htm

I found them quieter, more compliant and confidence inspiring in the twisties.

They honestly feel like a more advanced 4 or 4S before Michelin decided to make the 5 out of concrete to increase longevity and particle emissions.

Thanks GTIreland, it’s always great to read real owners reviews and informed opinions
Jonathan from tyrereviews’ vids pop up on my YouTube algorithm, and seeing him use a Golf GTI often for testing lends extra relevance, but actually sitting reading the review is actually far more informative and less fast paced so thanks for posting the link too 👍🏻

Really interesting to read that GTIreland.  My new 8.5 GTI has come on woeful Bridgestone rubbish which will be being swapped (all 4) as soon as we have the first sunshine in the spring.  I was all set to get PS4S (which I have had before and loved) but now you're making me really think about these new Pirellis - I found the PZEROs that were OEM on the two 7.5 GTI's I had were bang average and I would never have spent my own money on them - but these sound much more interesting.

Darn will have a real decision to make now...

Personally I wouldn't have gone anywhere near PZ4s or earlier iterations of this tyre.

Like you I've only heard horror stories but the PZ5 are somewhat of a reset for Pirelli.

How are they doing in the cold weather? It's not too bad here in the south winter-wise so never found the PS4S's wanting making them great all year round.

As I tend to take the ferry to the continent at odd times during the year, I do switch the tyres for winter.

Because I liked the PZ5 and because of yet another Tyre Reviews comparison I went with the Pirelli SF3 which I do like a lot but maybe overkill if you're not leaving the island.

I won't keep them on for the summer but being all season, I do wonder if one could get away with them year-round as they feel great on backroads, roundabouts and the like.
