Washer Pump - QA time
« on: 17 November 2025, 12:32 »
Hi all,

As soon as I spoke on another thread about having no issues, I get 2 in the space of 2 weeks!

This time its the rear washer not working on the 19' plate GTi I have.

No washer fluid is reaching the rear nozzle (tested by disconnecting the rear nozzle in the spoiler which was fun) and tried the pump - not even a drip. Tried manually blowing/creating suction on that pipe in case it was a blockage close by, no luck.

I can hear the pump going and the fronts work just fine. I also can't see any obvious signs of a broken pipe as no washer fluid is appearing anywhere - not inside or outside.

I've been googling replacement pumps but I'm not sure if it's at fault? I read that its the same outlet and the polarity changes, so the rear washer not working isn't indicative of a failing pump?

Is there anything else I can do to check issues (or where to check) before I change the pump and see what happens?

Thanks in advance!

If the pump operates when using the stalk it sounds like a blockage. You really need to access the washer bottle and check. I assume there will be two pumps ( f&R) if they both whir when being operated it will be a blockage. Generally if a hose has come off you will get the water being dumped elsewhere

I'm not sure there are two pumps, I thought there was only one? Anyone with a UK 7.5 able to confirm?

I'm hoping if it's a blockage, it's right by the pump coz there's no way I'm getting it out of its not.
