We are selling our 2014 (64 plate) Golf Mk7 Golf GTI this month as a new car is incoming. I've thought about keeping it, but I already have a VW Caravelle and a sports car, so can't justify this AND the new Alpine A290 that is incoming.
I'm not sure that I can be bothered with Autotrader tyre kickers so I might put it on Motorway, but I thought I'd offer it here first as hopefully someone here values the fact that it has been fairly well loved. So with a bit of sadness, I'm open to offers on the following car:
• 2014 (64 plate) 220bhp manual GTI, not performance pack version.
• Standard specification with the super smart (and very hard wearing!) tartan cloth seats.
• Owned by us since new! Never crashed or tracked.
• Kept garaged overnight for its entire life
• 97,000mi (will creep up slightly this month)
• Full service history. Mostly by VW but one independent service a few years ago.
• Serviced by a VW dealer last month including spark plugs (it is on a service plan)
• Clean MOT last week
It is an 11 year old family car so it isn't perfect, but it has been well looked after and looks better than all of the ones currently on Autotrader! I've got a folder of invoices and receipts from the 11 years of our ownership, and a fully stamped service book.
Recent work: -
- One rear caliper replaced last year due to seizing. The other one was replaced a couple of years ago for the same reason.
- Rear discs and pads (Pagid) changed as a result of the above earlier this year (one disc was warped)
- Front discs and pads in 2024 (Pagid)
- Two new rear shock absorbers this summer (there was a bit of play in the rear which I thought was due to shock absorbers)
- Rear lower control arm changed due to play in bushing (probably the real source of the above rear end instability)
- Small patch of corrosion by the badge on the boot is being sorted by VW under warranty before I sell it, and they’ll respray the tailgate.
Points to note:
- There is a slight ding above the driver's door beside the roof where my roof rack caught on it about 10 years ago (I've since bought a van, so no bikes on the roof now!)
- It's an 11 year old car so there are minor stone chips and some interior scratches on the plastic bits (bloody kids!). Nothing to write home about.
- The original 18" Austin wheels need refurbed. I got sick of diamond cut whiteworm etc so took them off, but can put them back on for the buyer. Tyres on these will be roughly 3-4mm Michelin PS4.
- At the moment it is on 18” Pretoria wheels, bought from a member on here. The tyres are 2.8mm and 3mm tread. Wheels are in good condition with just a couple of minor marks. I'm open to discussion on which set of wheels get left on and this will be factored into the price.

No fixed idea of price as it will depend on the included wheels etc. so let's have a chat before it goes on Motorway to a dealer.
