Just speccing my new 8.5 GTI and was wondering about HUD, does anyone have it and is it worthwhile?

Before I had HUD I thought it was the best idea ever.
All the vital info you need projected onto the windscreen right in the line of sight.

I then had HUD in a BMW, and it was pretty useful, plus the digital dials were ugly as sin and I hardly ever had to divert my gaze from the windscreen.

Shortly afterwards I got a mk8 Golf with no HUD. And did I miss it? Hell no! I really like the digital dash display in the mk8.
Another mk8 followed, and now an 8.5, none of which have had HUD. Still don’t remotely miss it.

If you’ve never had it, then why not treat yourself, it’s only £600 or so.

Never seen a HUD in a Golf, but used one in mates 330e - awesome IMO.

Had it in two BMWs now but not in my Golf's.

I'd definitely add it for £600.  Most people love it and it's also an interesting talking point.

I specced it in mine and while it is really cool, I do find myself wondering if it was worth getting. I sort of forget it's there sometimes and find myself looking at the dash anyway, even for info that is in the HUD.

Maybe some more time with it will retrain my muscle memory :)
