Manual Gearbox Oil Change
« on: 06 August 2025, 23:02 »
Hi folks,

Just wanted to sense check my understanding in case anyone has some experience servicing their manual sh!tbox.

As far as I know, the MK7.5 PP comes with the MQ350 manual box, which requires a GL4/GL4+ G052527A2 oil. I’m quite fond of Miller Oils and remember reading GolfDave’s DIY tutorial where he used their CRX 75w-90 NT+ Nanodrive. However, conscious that his box was the MQ250 and didn’t have the VAQ Differential, I’m getting confused on whether to use the standard CRX 75w-90 NT+ or if I need to go for the LS version, or if I need to avoid this all together and go for something like LiquiMoly SAE 75w-90 GL4+?

Lastly, are the drain/fill plugs reusable or do I need to replace them?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I haven't had the gearbox oil replaced, but did replace the diff fluid, which is the same spec haldex fluid in 4wd Vw's.

I read that drain plugs needed replacing, i ordered, collected and fitted the new ones to the correct torque. I am not sure I will change them next time, the existing drain plugs and their threads still looked new.
