Quick Xenon question!
« on: 07 July 2025, 08:14 »
Morning guys,

Not strictly GTi but booking at a 2014 Golf GT Tech and i am trying to work out if these are factory fit Xenons, or some aftermarket fitment type as i cannot find any other pictures on the web, or a VW brochure.

Never seen L Shaped DRLs on these, just the 'U' shape.

Picture aint great as i grabbed a screen shot

Cheers!

Although looking at this pic, it may be U shaped and its the front angle that doesnt show them properly?

I think it’s the camera angle of the first picture that makes the DRL look ‘L’ shaped. In the second picture you can see the inner vertical side of the DRL that’s not visible in the first picture, and it is illuminated.

As to whether the headlamps are OEM factory xenons or aftermarket; if they’re OEM they’ll have a sticker on the reverse side that includes information such as the VW part no., the manufacturer’s name (I think they were made by Valeo) and VW’s logo. If you’re planning on viewing the car, the headlamp sticker should be visible from within the engine compartment, or you could get the seller to take a picture and send it to you.

I'd say they look OE to me. They also look like they have headlight washers that would come with factory xenon and I doubt anyone would retrofit those. Would be a nightmare!
