Hi, my name is Ralph and I am a 70year old ex mechanic brought up in the pre computer age of motoring and own and maintain a couple of classic Triumphs (TR3 & Dolomite).
I am trying to help an older friend of mine who has a 1991 Golf GTI.
He used it 2 weeks ago, but only just made it home as it was misfiring and cutting out at junctions. Now the only things that work on the car are the hazard flashers, lights, and the wipers, everything else is dead, ignition switched on or off.
We have changed the ign switch thinking that was the problem, but it has made no difference
I am wondering if there is a relay that has failed but which one? This is the Digifant injection system but I think that is basically OK because if that was faulty it shouldn`t affect all the other systems like Starter motor, fuel pump, indicators etc would it.
Any ideas would be gratefully received,
