Vw says it's because some parts aren't available at the moment and that it will be configurable again in "the future".
Other sources say a batch of 5000 cars was planned and they are sold out...
I guess whe'll have to wait and see.

VW said that the model was going to be available all the year of 2026. I don't know 2026 means calendar year or Model Year.

I received a newsletter from the local VW dealer today that included the undernoted - states that order books close at the end of the anniversary year. I’m assuming ‘anniversary year’ = 2026 calendar year and if so, then it should be possible to order a GTI ED50 up to and including 31/12/2026. On that basis;
- Production would be limited by order date; not a specific number of vehicles.
- VW will still be building the car into 2027.

I received the same email and was going to post the same thing - going by this orders should be available to be made right up until the end of 2026.

Hey guys new member here, so I ordered my ED50 January 15th 10:30am exact date and time the order books opened, dark moss PP area cam HK pan roof, forged alloys (black) sports tyres and the upgraded steering wheel, as of yet still nothing confirmed from the factory for build dates ect, still sitting as status V held, meaning the factory have the order but haven’t done anything with it, hopefully the next few weeks they update it as I’m told once they start production and a vin number is generated the number allocation of the 1000 units that will be limited in the uk is known, I was hoping for a low number but thinking now it will just be random as other people seam to have build dates already, anyone else got any insider information regarding the ED 50? Also no discount from the dealership when I purchased,

Also my understanding is that only 1000 will be made for the uk market so until 31dec 2026 if they still have slots allocated they can put the order in but i suspect once all 1000 are gone that will be it stopped and no more will be produced, this will be a rare collectors car like the clubsport S ,
