Boys and girls, the alcantara steering wheel is on the UK menu now...

I would like to think I had a significantly contribution on this decision by VW UK by repeatedly contacting VW customer service and telling them to log a formal request to the VW UK Product Team. Repeatedly

Many thanks to all the posters, your insight and knowledge is very useful

Well done  Had another play on the configurator, coming out at near £55k now. Think I'll be sticking with the CS for a while...

Got to say, looks good. If I cave in and go for a ED50 this will be a box ticked.

For those who prefer the Vienna leather seats I think that the leather steering wheel fits better. What do you think?

But for the standard seats, the alcantara wheel is awesome.

You’d be mad to spec the leather. It’s the same leather you can spec in any GTI. And not particularly nice looking nor great quality. The cloth seats are unique to the 50. The only plus with leather is you also get the electric/memory function but you pay a handsome premium for it.
