Driving modes
« on: 01 June 2025, 22:43 »
What’s everyone’s set up for the ‘individual’ driving mode? I’ve got everything in comfort apart from ‘exterior engine sound’ which is set to sport, however it doesn’t seem to give as many pops as when it’s in sport mode. I’m wondering whether I should set the drive to ‘sport’ as well, sort of mimicking the sport mode but without the fake cabin noise

Only really pops when the gearbox is running in sport mode. The exhaust sound doesn’t affect it. I have mine set to sport for the exhaust note as it sounds slightly louder but that’s just personal preference.

My individual settings are everything in comfort except exterior & interior engine sound which are set to sport and DCC set to the softest setting (nearest to the minus sign).

I mainly use individual mode rather than comfort as it provides a comfortable ride with a bit of noise, but where and when conditions allow I always switch to sport mode (usually when my wife is not with me )

Set mine to individual mode. I set everything to Sport apart from gear box and aircon. Then when i want pops and bangs and the more aggressive gearing i flick the gear button into Sport..

i find it can be too laggy and slow to respond in all out comfort mode at times, particularly at junctions when you need to nip out quickly, though i do find it a bit inconsistent in the delivery of pick up.

Having come from a MK8 to an 8.5, I'm finding that the exhaust is more muted in the new car, disappointingly. I used to get regular pops/bangs on the over-run in the old car but I don't think I get any now. I think they've definitely muted it.

Does anyone know what exactly the difference is between "S" and "S+" (which you get when in Special mode on the Clubsport)? S+ does seem a bit more aggressive with shifts, but still no pops that I can hear!

My 8.5 is definitely more vocal than my previous 8, and has become noticeably more so since I went past 5000 miles, when in sport mode there are pops etc on the overrun that simply weren’t there on the 8.
